咖啡渣再利用 Coffee Grounds Recycling
當沖煮一杯咖啡，只喝到其中20%的可溶性物質，剩下的80%是癈棄的咖啡渣，農業部茶及飲料作物改良場的資料顯示，民國110年台灣消費4萬多公噸咖啡豆，大約製造了3萬多公頓咖啡渣。在丟棄咖啡渣之前，可以透過多種方式進行再利用咖啡渣，而不僅僅是把它們扔掉。以下是一些可以考慮的方法：
When brewing a cup of coffee, only about 20% of the soluble substances are extracted, leaving the remaining 80% as discarded coffee grounds. According to data from the Tea and Beverage Crops Improvement Station of the Council of Agriculture, Taiwan consumed over 40,000 metric tons of coffee beans in the year 2021, generating approximately 30,000 metric tons of coffee grounds. Instead of disposing of coffee grounds, there are various ways to recycle them. Here are some methods to consider:
1. 肥料：
咖啡渣富含有機物質，可以作為植物肥料。咖啡渣裡面含有大量的氮化物，非常適合喜歡酸性土壤的植物，所以在把咖啡渣當做肥料的時候一定要注意不是所有植物都適合拿咖啡渣當做肥料的，給偏酸性土壤的花卉做肥料，才能事半功倍。
1. Fertilizer:
Coffee grounds are rich in organic matter and can be used as plant fertilizer. Coffee grounds contain a substantial amount of nitrogen, making them suitable for plants that thrive in acidic soil. It's essential to note that not all plants are suitable for coffee grounds as fertilizer; it is particularly effective for flowers that prefer acidic soil.
2. 堆肥：
將咖啡渣添加到堆肥中，可以促進堆肥的分解過程。乾性堆肥：將咖啡渣置於陽台，需每日翻攪，約十日後即可放入盆栽內。濕性堆肥：將咖啡渣置於陽台，不去翻攪任其發霉，數日後即發現布滿黴菌，再與砂土攪拌後放入盆栽內。與其他有機廢物一起，咖啡渣可以成為優質的堆肥，用於改善土壤結構和提供植物所需的營養。
2. Composting:
Adding coffee grounds to compost can accelerate the decomposition process. For dry composting, place coffee grounds on the balcony, turning them daily. After about ten days, incorporate them into potted plants. For wet composting, leave the coffee grounds on the balcony without turning to allow mold growth. Mix it with sand after a few days and use it in potted plants. When combined with other organic waste, coffee grounds become high-quality compost, improving soil structure and providing necessary nutrients for plants.
3. 清潔劑：
咖啡渣具有一定的磨砂和吸附性，可用作清潔劑。可以將其用於清潔鍋具、擦拭表面，將咖啡渣放在鍋具中，加入少量水和洗潔精，然後用鍋鏟攪拌，將污垢和油污清洗掉。也可以將咖啡渣與洗潔精混合，製成糊狀物，然後用海綿或刷子沾取這種糊狀物清潔廚房和浴室表面，如灶台、洗手盆、馬桶等。
3. Cleaner:
Coffee grounds have mild abrasive and adsorbent properties, making them useful as a cleaner. They can be used to clean cookware or wipe surfaces. Place coffee grounds in cookware, add a small amount of water and dish soap, then stir with a spatula to remove dirt and grease. Alternatively, mix coffee grounds with dish soap to create a paste, and use a sponge or brush to clean surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, such as stovetops, sinks, and toilets.
4. 香氛袋：
乾燥的咖啡渣可以放在布袋中，用作除臭劑或香氛袋，放在衣櫃、鞋櫃等地方。咖啡渣是一種天然的除臭劑，可以有效地去除室內的異味。咖啡渣具有強烈的吸附性，可以吸附室內的異味，同時釋放出淡淡的咖啡香氣，讓室內的空氣變得清新。
4. Scented Sachets:
Dry coffee grounds can be placed in fabric sachets and used as deodorizers or scented sachets, placed in closets, shoe cabinets, and other areas. Coffee grounds serve as a natural deodorizer, effectively removing indoor odors. With strong adsorption properties, coffee grounds can absorb indoor odors while emitting a subtle coffee fragrance, freshening the air indoors.
5. 肥皂製作：
咖啡渣可以作為肥皂的天然磨砂劑，咖啡渣顆粒添加到手工肥皂中，清潔、去角質、零浪費，可以溫和地幫助去除老廢的角質，促進肌膚代謝，具有去除死皮細胞的效果。
5. Soap Making:
Coffee grounds can serve as a natural exfoliant in soap making. Adding coffee ground particles to handmade soap cleanses, exfoliates, and minimizes waste. It gently helps remove dead skin cells, promotes skin metabolism, and has exfoliating effects.
6. 美容用途：
將咖啡渣與橄欖油混合，可以製作成天然的身體磨砂膏，有助於去除身體的角質層。使用咖啡渣的好處是去角質，是一種天然去角質劑，可以去除死皮細胞並讓皮膚光亮，而且咖啡富含抗氧化劑，所以它有助於促進皮膚的健康，是良好的去角質磨砂膏。
6. Beauty Uses:
Mixing coffee grounds with olive oil creates a natural body scrub that helps remove the skin's outer layer. The benefit of using coffee grounds for exfoliation is its natural exfoliating properties, removing dead skin cells and leaving the skin radiant. Additionally, coffee is rich in antioxidants, promoting skin health, making it an excellent exfoliating scrub.
7. 染料：
咖啡渣可以用於染色，特別是用於染布或紙張。這是一種環保的染色方法。不少植物都有天然染色作用，咖啡也不例外，咖啡渣混合水後可作為天然好用的染劑，替紙張或布料染上咖啡色，營造復古風格。
7. Dyeing:
Coffee grounds can be used as a dye, particularly for dyeing fabric or paper. This is an eco-friendly dyeing method. Many plants have natural dyeing properties, including coffee. Coffee grounds mixed with water serve as a natural dye, imparting a vintage look to paper or fabric.
8. 蚊蟲驅逐劑：
咖啡渣具有一定的驅蚊作用，可以放在花園或戶外區域，有助於減少蚊蟲的數量。咖啡渣可以用來除蟲，包括跳蚤，因為咖啡渣中的咖啡因和咖啡酸能夠刺激蟲的中樞神經系統，進而驅除蚊蟲。
8. Insect Repellent:
Coffee grounds have a certain mosquito-repellent effect and can be placed in gardens or outdoor areas to reduce the number of insects. Coffee grounds can be used as insect repellents, including for fleas, as the caffeine and coffee acids in the grounds stimulate the central nervous system of insects, thereby repelling them.
沖煮後的咖啡渣帶有水分、又濕又重，容易腐爛，不方便儲存，要曬乾或烤乾，避免咖啡渣因濕氣產生異味和細菌，延長使用壽命。咖啡渣的再利用方式可能因個人需求和環境而異，確保使用前對特定用途的適用性進行適度的研究。
After brewing, coffee grounds retain moisture and are heavy, making them prone to rotting and inconvenient to store. It's essential to dry or roast them to prevent odors and bacteria caused by moisture, thus extending their usability. The recycle of coffee grounds may vary depending on individual needs and the environment, so it's crucial to conduct appropriate research on their suitability for specific purposes before use.
