A one-way exhaust valve is a feature found on sealed coffee bags. Freshly roasted coffee continuously releases carbon dioxide. When the space inside a sealed coffee bag is limited and excess carbon dioxide is not allowed to escape, the pressure inside the bag increases, which accelerates the aging process of the coffee beans. Therefore, the presence of a one-way exhaust valve on the packaging allows excess gas to be automatically released while preventing oxygen from entering. This helps the coffee beans maintain their freshness and optimal flavor.
