COE競賽的由來
COE衣索比亞 2020年第一次參加COE競賽，COE(Cup of Excellence)每年在咖啡產地，由國際非營利組織ACE(Alliance for Coffee Excellence)在各個國家分別舉辦，由專業杯測國家評審團從上千個批次中，選出高於86分的前40個批次進入國際評審團，再從中選出高於87分的前30個批次獲得COE優勝，並進入全球線上拍賣會，其中前10名會再做最後一次評鑑並取得最終的分數成績。
Ethiopia participated in the Cup of Excellence (COE) competition for the first time in 2020. COE, organized annually in coffee-producing countries by the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE), involves a rigorous selection process. National juries evaluate thousands of coffee lots, selecting the top 40 scoring above 86 points. An international jury further evaluates the best 30 lots scoring over 87 points, which then qualify for the COE award and proceed to a global online auction. The top 10 lots undergo a final evaluation to determine their final scores.
競賽規則調整
今年因為COVID-19的關係，競賽規則有調整，即預賽後選出的前150名，沒有留在原產國衣索比亞進行後續的杯測，而是帶到了美國波特蘭進行。此外，在國際評審的階段是由各個國際評審在自己具公信力的實驗室杯測，而不是傳統的所有國際評審一起杯測。但過程中皆會符合COE規則包括盲測等。
Due to COVID-19, the 2020 competition adjusted its process. Instead of conducting further cupping rounds in Ethiopia, the top 150 pre-selected coffees were sent to Portland, USA, for evaluation. The international jury also conducted blind cupping sessions in accredited laboratories rather than assembling in one location. The entire process will comply with COE regulations, including blind tasting.

Congratulations to Ethiopia for successfully hosting its first COE competition! The global auction took place on June 25, offering coffee lovers a chance to taste these exceptional lots.
第一次的COE衣索比亞帶來許多驚艷，大家耳熟能詳的耶加雪菲(Yirgacheffe)只在最終28個優勝中取得3個席次，而且沒有進到前十名；前三名是很少聽到的
Interestingly, Yirgacheffe, a well-known Ethiopian coffee region, secured only three of the final 28 winning spots, with none making it into the top 10. The top three spots were taken by lesser-known regions.
下圖為自1999年開始，各國加入時程圖。繼衣索比亞在2020年加入COE獲得卓越的成效後，2021年厄瓜多及印尼也相繼加入。
Below diagram shows the timetable of each country joining COE since 1999. Following Ethiopia’s successful participation in 2020, Ecuador and Indonesia joined COE in 2021.
