Kenya is a nation that places a premium on high-quality coffee. Even though 85% of Kenyan coffee is produced by small-scale farmers, the coffee beans are meticulously handled by the government-run "Coffee Board of Kenya" and subjected to weekly auctions at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange in the capital city of Nairobi. The government's auction grading system ensures that top-quality coffee beans receive better auction prices. Common grades include AA, AB, and PB, among others, encouraging both coffee smallholders and coffee processing factories to produce excellent coffee beans.
