世界上最有聲望的咖啡豆競賽
COE(Cup of Excellence)又稱“卓越杯”,是世界上最有聲望的咖啡豆競賽,由非營利組織ACE卓越咖啡聯盟(Alliance for Coffee Excellence)每年在各國舉行,會員國多集中在中美洲各國。至2021年底,已有有15個國家加入。下圖為自1999年開始,各國加入時程圖。繼衣索比亞在2020年加入COE獲得卓越的成效後,2021年,厄瓜多及印尼也相繼加入。
The COE (Cup of Excellence) is the world’s most esteemed coffee competition. Organized by ACE (Alliance for Coffee Excellence). It is held yearly in different countries, which are primarily in Central America. COE has expanded to 15 countries as of 2021. Below diagram shows the timetable of each country joining COE since 1999. Following Ethiopia’s success in 2020, Ecuador and Indonesia also joined in 2021.
COE咖啡豆評分等級
COE卓越杯競賽由專業評審在上千支咖啡中評選,選出高於86分的優勝咖啡(最多選出40支),在從中選出當年該國的TOP10咖啡,並交由全球拍賣會賣出,絕大多數的拍賣收益都歸農民所有。
The Cup of Excellence (COE) competition is judged by professional evaluators who select the best coffees from thousands of entries. Coffees scoring above 86 points (up to 40 selections) are recognized as winners. From these, the top 10 coffees of the year from each country are chosen and auctioned globally, with the majority of the auction proceeds going to the farmers.
總分在69分或以下,屬於略差的商業豆或是工業用豆。
總分在70分至74分之間,屬於一般商業豆。
總分在75分至79分之間,屬於較優的商業豆,又稱為高級商業豆。
總分在80分至84分之間,屬於精品咖啡。
總分在86分+或以上,屬於COE競賽級,也是卓越杯的優勝咖啡,是目前國際咖啡界公認最高水準。
Coffees scoring 69 points or below are considered lower-quality commercial or industrial-grade beans.
Coffees scoring 70 to 74 points are classified as standard commercial beans.
Coffees scoring 75 to 79 points are regarded as higher-quality commercial beans, also known as premium commercial beans.
Coffees scoring 80 to 84 points qualify as specialty coffee.
Coffees scoring 86+ points are competition-grade COE winners, recognized as the highest standard in the international coffee industry.
冠上COE稱號的咖啡,可以在以精品咖啡拍賣上高價交易。受到誘人售價的影響,以往只注重產量的咖啡種植者,也開始在品質上下工夫。這個制度不僅提升咖啡莊園的生產欲望,亦能提升自身的評價與知名度,進而增加咖啡交易量。在卓越杯問世之前,大多數咖啡豆都被混豆處理,不同咖啡豆本身絕妙風味,無法被凸顯。
Coffees awarded the COE title can be sold at high prices in specialty coffee auctions. The attractive selling prices have encouraged coffee growers, who previously focused only on yield, to prioritize quality. This system not only motivates coffee estates to improve their production but also enhances their reputation and market value, ultimately increasing coffee trade volumes. Before the Cup of Excellence, most coffee beans were blended together, preventing their unique flavors from being fully appreciated.
