In Peru, the coffee industry is predominantly composed of smallholder farmers, each owning less than two hectares of land. Each hectare yields approximately 3,000 pounds of coffee. Peruvian coffee is typically shade-grown at high altitudes, primarily featuring the Arabica variety. Due to the slow maturation process, the beans here have a higher density, resulting in a wide range of flavor profiles.
