Nicaragua, located in Central America, is a sparsely populated country with ample land suitable for coffee cultivation. During the "Coffee Boom" period from 1840 to 1940, with strong government promotion, coffee became a major export commodity. In recent years, most coffee trees are organically grown, and coffee farmers have begun to focus on quality, implementing traceability systems.
In Nicaragua, over 80% of coffee is grown by smallholder farmers, and agricultural products are the primary source of income, accounting for 60% of total exports. In 2020, production reached 159,000 tons, with 143,200 tons exported, generating export revenue of $422 million. Nicaragua predominantly uses shade-grown cultivation, achieving ecological balance and enhancing the complexity of coffee flavors.
