Arabica coffee originates from Ethiopia in Africa. To this day, hundreds, even thousands, of wild coffee varieties exist within Ethiopia. Many grow naturally in the ancient forests. Countless local evolutions, mutations, and cross-pollinations have created a vast original variety pool. This local mixed variety is known as the Arabica genetic pool. The indigenous varieties produced within Ethiopia are referred to as Heirloom.

In the 20th century, Ethiopia, with official support, embarked on a series of projects to search for, test, and name coffee varieties. To address the impact of a certain disease on coffee trees, the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) in Ethiopia collected 639 coffee tree varieties. After research, they released 13 varieties, including 74110, 74112, and 74158. In the 2021 Cup of Excellence (COE), among the top 30, 74110 accounted for 8 spots, 74112 accounted for 10 spots, and 74158 accounted for 6 spots, all demonstrating outstanding performance.
