Both are portable bags that extract coffee, but they present a different drinking experience. Do you prefer a full of aroma and structures coffee, or a balanced and full-bodied coffee? Do you want to bring a sense of ceremony like pour-over coffee, or pursue simple and fast experience? Want to know the difference between the two?

 

The brewing method of drip coffee is similar to pour-over coffee, but there is no need to grind coffee beans or prepare a filter cup and filter paper. During the extraction process, the soluble substances in the coffee are dissolved in sequence. After the coffee liquid drip into the cup, a coffee full of structures is ready. During the brewing process, the water stream will stir the coffee powder like pour-over, so that will bring out the full aroma.

 

Immersion coffee is done in the same way as a tea bag. After putting it into a cup, pour hot water to soak it. During the extraction process, use the cotton rope attached to the soaking bag to pull it up several times to increase the extraction rate and make the coffee more soluble. The substance dissolves, and the water with some soluble substances continues to extract the coffee powder, so that the overall coffee liquid has a mellow and balanced feeling.

 


Those who like a balanced and full-bodied feeling are recommended to drink immersion coffee. Those who like full aroma and structures are recommended to drink drip coffee.


 

Flavor test:

 

Brew the drip coffee – “Flower Scent” and immersion coffee – “Spring Flower Blossom” at the same time. In fact, these two are the same high-end blend coffees. Several single estate beans present a floral aroma coffee in a golden ratio. However, under the two different brewing methods, different flavor profiles are presented.

 

For Flower Scent (drip bag), the front part has peach aroma accompanied by floral aroma, the middle part has citrus and honey aroma, and the fruit acid is relatively bright and full. Spring Flower Blossom (immersion bag) tastes sweet with honey in the front part and nectar in the middle part. The fruit acid is relatively mellow and sweet.
