Liberica Coffee is a uniquely shaped coffee bean known for its irregular form and towering tree height—some trees can grow up to 17 meters, making cherry harvesting particularly challenging. Originating in the lowland regions of West Africa, including Liberia, Ivory Coast, and Madagascar, Liberica coffee is now primarily cultivated in Malaysia, the Philippines, and India. It is highly resistant to coffee leaf rust and is known for its rarity, accounting for only 2% of global coffee consumption. One of the main reasons for its scarcity is the difficulty in harvesting and processing these beans. In contrast, Arabica coffee makes up about 75% of global coffee consumption, while Robusta accounts for 20%.

Liberica coffee has gained popularity as an alternative to Arabica and Robusta. Among the three major coffee species, Liberica has the lowest caffeine content: Liberica: 1.23g of caffeine per 100g of coffee beans;Arabica: 1.61g of caffeine per 100g;Robusta: 2.26g of caffeine per 100g.

Recognizable by its large leaves and cherries, Liberica is also known as "large-fruited coffee." The pulp-to-bean ratio for Liberica is 6:4, whereas both Arabica and Robusta have a 4:6 ratio. This difference increases the drying time of Liberica cherries and influences its flavor. Due to its higher pulp content and longer natural drying fermentation, the fruitiness of Liberica coffee is more pronounced.

One of the key selling points of Liberica coffee is its natural sweetness. Unlike the bright acidity of Arabica or the bitterness of Robusta, Liberica offers a rich, slightly fruity sweetness. Its flavor is often reminiscent of berries and other fruits, with subtle floral notes and a hint of woodiness. This makes Liberica an exciting choice for coffee enthusiasts seeking unique and exotic flavor profiles.
